On behalf of the Blakely Parent Teacher Organization:
Welcome to Blakely Elementary School

Blakely PTO is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that provides support and added enrichment activities for all students at Blakely Elementary.  All parents are automatically members of the PTO just by having kids at the school.

Thank you for your support!
The 2018 Blakely PTO Auction was a tremendous success! We would like to thank the countless families and community members who donated, attended, sponsored, baked, volunteered, and generally came together to make this happen. Your generosity on all levels is much appreciated. From the PTO, staff, and students, we thank you!

Blakely PTO

This weekend, a small group of volunteers helped put in a second Gaga pit! We’ll have a bigger post on our website shortly, but for right now we extend a big thank you to everyone who showed up, and continues to show up, to help our kids during this tough year of construction.

We hope to do more over the summer. Would you be interested in email updates? More posts like this on Facebook/Instagram? Let us know!

BIKE/WALK TO SCHOOL DAY
TOMORROW: Friday, May 18

Blakely will be celebrating its third Bike and Walk to School Day on Friday, May 18! Join other families in celebrating the beautiful weather and practicing alternative ways to get to school that promote health and help the environment. So get outside, get out of your car, and get your kids off the bus for the day. And get some goodies! A table will be set up at the bike parking area behind the portables with treats and safety gear such as reflectors that students can attach to their backpacks. Thank you to Kristine Cramer for organizing this event!

Join us in one of three ways:
(1) Bike train from Lynnwood Center, meeting at the Walt’s parking lot at 7:10. We will go up Oddfellows and then Blakely to get to school.
(2) Bike train from IslandWood for the younger or new-to-riding students. Meet in the gravel parking lot on the left when you come in. Students will tour a small portion of IslandWood and then bike from IslandWood to Blakely. Meet at 7:20.
(3) Hike to Blakely on the new Old Mill trail. Meet at 7:15 at the start of the trail on Old Mill, near McDonald. Please carpool if possible as parking will be tight.
(4) The Blakely parking lot will be set up to ensure safe entry for bikers and walkers – if you are not able to bike or walk, please send your child on the bus instead of driving him or her that day. This will reduce congestion in the parking lot as bikers arrive.

To ensure that all bikers are safe, we request that a parent or trusted adult rides or walks with the bike or walk train. If you can’t take your child, you can get support from another parent or trusted adult who may already be riding. Please contact Kristine Cramer, kristinedcramer@gmail.com or 206-384-5647 with any questions or if you need help finding an adult to be responsible for your child.

The bike trains will return at the end of the day. So please remember that if you biked your child to school, you’ll need to bike them home or connect with another adult who can be responsible for your child.1)

SUMMER READING
Last PTO Meeting of the Year!
This Friday, May 11 at 9 a.m.
In the Blakely library

Meet local Bainbridge children’s librarian LISA RACINE and get book recommendations and a sneak peek at the KRL summer reading program. Lisa's tips will help keep your kiddos excited about reading over the summer!

Also, we'll get updates on the PLAYGROUND (cool things are in store for the interim playground) and BUILDING CONSTRUCTION, as well as vote for next year's budget and board members.

It's getting to be CLASSROOM PLACEMENT time for the 2018-19 school year, so if you have questions about that, come ask Mr. Ande. If you're heading on to Sakai, come ask veteran parents about any concerns you might have about the transition to fifth grade.

As always, we'll have COFFEE and breakfast treats. Younger siblings are welcome.
